About this work
A lithographic print shows a long spotted serpent climbing toward a bird's nest woven from straw and twigs, where two nestlings and a parent bird are visible among the branches. The dense foliage and gnarled branches frame the scene, which is rendered in fine hatched lines and strong tonal contrast. The print is attributed to Gustave Doré and carries bilingual Spanish and English captions.
