About this work

A pale watercolor and pen drawing shows a street corner with a stone gateway topped by lion sculptures and the number 96 on a pillar. Two figures carry bundles near the gate while a third stands by the railing, with a gabled building and dormer windows behind them. The handwritten inscription in the lower right identifies the location as Rue Marcadet at the corner of Avenue de St Ouen in the 18th arrondissement, and the title credits Jules-Adolphe Chauvet.
