About this work
A pencil and wash drawing on tan paper shows a Paris street scene with partly demolished buildings, exposed walls, and rubble in the foreground behind a wooden fence. Handwritten annotations and shop signs, including a porcelain shop, are visible, and the caption notes the state of the site on 26 March 1895. The work is by Jules-Adolphe Chauvet and documents demolitions for the opening of the rue Réaumur.
