About this work
This print by Gustave Doré, titled Les Différens spectacles de Paris, is a black and white engraved sheet arranged as a grid of twelve small vignettes. The scenes include a seated figure in a large chair, a crowd of men tumbling and brawling, dogs in a pile, mounted armored riders, a figure reading a newspaper, and a dark panel dotted with stars. The sheet is inscribed in pencil at the bottom with the title and a catalogue number, and it is noted as a state before the lettering.
