About this work
A pen and ink drawing shows the facade of the Hôtel Meissonnier on the boulevard Malesherbes at the corner of the rue Legendre, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. A large tree in the foreground partly frames the building, whose mansard roof, chimneys and arched entrance are rendered in fine hatched lines. Handwritten annotations below the drawing describe the building's 1894 demolition and are signed by Jules-Adolphe Chauvet.
