About this work

A rural scene shows a grey horse and a brown foal beside a half-timbered farmhouse with a shingled roof and an open forge doorway, where a man kneels to attend to a hoof while a woman with a red headscarf and basket stands nearby. A loaded haycart and another horse appear on the road in the distance, and a dog drinks at a puddle in the foreground.
