About this work
This print shows two scenes of the Crimean War: an upper view of crowded soldiers firing rifles through clouds of smoke on a cliff overlooking the sea, and a lower view of a guard on a rocky outcrop watching a column of captive soldiers marching across a plain toward a coastal town. The work is attributed to Gustave Doré and dated 1855.
