About this work

A color print showing two framed scenes: on the left, three women in long dresses and hats stroll along a tree-lined path, and on the right, a book cover shows four women in ornate hats seated before a lattice trellis with a view toward the Eiffel Tower. The title Les modes de Paris, the author Octave Uzanne, and the illustrator François Courboin appear in text, alongside the publisher Société Française d'Éditions d'Art and the date 1898 printed on the cover. The stylized figures and flat, outlined color areas reflect a decorative fin-de-siècle graphic style.
