About this work

A friar in a brown habit walks along a stony road while reading a small book held open in one hand, pulled forward by a donkey that trots behind him with a leading rope. The donkey carries a loaded basket draped with greenery, and a distant town with a bell tower sits beside a bay under a dramatic cloudy sky.
