About this work
An engraved print shows the Virgin Mary holding the Christ child on a cloud, while a crowned woman in flowing robes kneels and gestures toward a group of bearded men below. Angels with palm fronds and wreaths hover above, and books, a sword, and a laurel wreath lie in the foreground. The Latin inscription below cites 1 Corinthians 1 on God choosing the foolish things of the world, and the work is attributed to Grégoire Huret.
