About this work
A pencil and wash drawing shows a street with a stairway descending between a brick wall and a fence, bordered by trees and a low building on the left. Several figures in nineteenth-century dress, including a man in a top hat and a woman with a parasol, stand near the stairway. The handwritten inscription reads "Rue du dessous des berges à son commencement rue de Patay," attributed to Jules-Adolphe Chauvet.
