About this work
A pencil drawing shows the gateway of the Auteuil cemetery on rue Claude Lorrain, with tall trees, a stone wall and a funeral monument visible through the gate. A shopfront at left bears the sign of Léon Bouillon, successor to his father, a funeral monument maker, advertising wreaths and bouquets. The work is attributed to Jules-Adolphe Chauvet and carries the handwritten inscription 'Cimetière d'Auteuil rue Claude Lorrain' with the date 1894 noted in the drawing.
