About this work
This pen and brown ink drawing with brown wash is a tall, tapering study showing densely arranged figures in tiers, from a small architectural frame at top to a crowded lower zone of falling and writhing bodies. Angels, seated figures on clouds and cherubs fill the sheet, and the drawing is mounted in a gilt and grey board.
