About this work
A lithographic poster shows a French soldier in a steel helmet raising his hat with a rifle slung on his shoulder, accompanied by a second soldier. In the upper right, a woman in regional costume waves toward them across a grassy field, while bold French text reads that 20,000 Alsatian-Lorrainer volunteers fight in the French armies. The work is credited to Émile Friant and dated 1916.
