About this work
A pen and watercolor sketch shows a man in a long coat and trousers striding forward, waving a small flag in one hand and carrying a bundle in the other while his top hat flies off into the air. A handwritten French caption beneath reads that he is no longer a prisoner but the guards still are, and the date July 1871 appears at the top.
