About this work

A colour illustration shows a bald, mustached man in a yellow uniform tumbling through a blue sky while clutching a parachute cord attached to a small toy dog. Below, biplanes marked with cross insignia sit on a green airfield beside hangars, and debris including a hat and a pipe falls past him. The work is credited to Louis Justin Laurent Icart, dated 1917, and carries the French caption "Mein Gott!. heureusement j'ai mon fétiche!".
