A nocturnal view of the Palais de Justice rising behind the Seine, its turrets silhouetted against a dark, cloud-filled sky with warm lights glowing in the windows. Two steamboats move along the river, trailing smoke, while bare trees frame the left foreground. The work is rendered in charcoal and pastel-like tones, and is inscribed with the title and the date 2 février 1917 by Charles Jouas.
