About this work

This engraved plate by Eugène Flandin, dated 1849, shows a row of carved stone reliefs from the southwest face of the Khorsabad palace facade, numbered 17 to 25. A colossal human-headed winged figure stands at the left, followed by bearded and beardless male figures in fringed garments carrying staffs and objects in procession. Above the reliefs rises a brick wall drawn in fine horizontal lines.
