About this work

A red-ground lithographic poster titled La Bible Amusante, with text by Léo Taxil and drawings by Frid'rick, shows a central tree with Adam and Eve beside a serpent surrounded by circular vignettes of biblical scenes. The vignettes include Noah's ark under a rainbow, Joshua facing the sun, David and Goliath, Judith and Holofernes, and Susanna bathing, all rendered in exaggerated comic caricature. The lower panel gives series information and a price of 15 centimes, and the print is dated 1882.
