About this work
A painted alpine scene shows a steep, layered rock wall split by many cascading streams of white water that fall toward a stony valley floor. Snow-covered peaks and a glacier rise in the distance under a pale, cloudy sky, while small figures stand near the water's edge at the lower right. The work is attributed to Caspar Wolf and is titled Die Sturzbäche des Lauenentals.
