This 1907 print by Jean-François Raffaëlli shows an elderly man with a staff and bundle walking along a curving shore beside a dog, under a dramatic sky split between dark storm clouds and a glowing yellow horizon. A lantern on a post and a distant town with a church spire sit at the edge of the scene, with the tide lines and hatched strokes of the etching describing the wet sand and wind-driven air.
