About this work
A pen and watercolor drawing shows a Paris street corner with a shop labeled as an épicerie and selling wines and liqueurs under a striped awning. Several men in period clothing stand near a gas lamp while a boy with a basket hurries past. The work is by Jules-Adolphe Chauvet and dates to 1884, recording the rue François-Miron at the corner of rue Cloche-Perce in the Saint-Gervais quarter.
