About this work
A watercolor and pen drawing shows a small Gothic-style chapel with a pointed roof and inscribed panels, set in a garden beside a large bell hung on a wooden frame. A kneeling figure and a standing robed figure appear near the trees and shrubs. The work is catalogued as a 1888 print by Jules-Adolphe Chauvet, titled after 128 rue du Bac and the garden of the Missions Etrangères convent in Paris's 7th arrondissement.
