About this work

A sepia-toned landscape shows a steep sandy bank rising above a broad river, with a spired temple crowning the hill and palm trees along the slope. Cattle wade in the shallows while sailing boats and a figure in a small canoe move across the water toward distant cliffs. This view of the right bank of the Ganges, near Currah, is dated 1788 and attributed to William Daniell.
