About this work

An etching by Émile Bernard dated 1935 shows a nude female figure walking forward in a dim, columned hall while seated guests lean toward a table. A man on the right holds a platter, and a ewer rests on a tray in the foreground. The title refers to Herodias dancing nude, a subject drawn from the Salomé story.
