About this work
A pen and wash drawing with white heightening shows a narrow waterway flowing between a stone wall and grassy banks toward an arched bridge. Factory buildings with tall smokestacks and a small tower stand along the water under a sky of soft clouds. The work is dated 1887 and is attributed to Jules-Adolphe Chauvet, with an inscription describing the entrance of the Bièvre into Paris at the Poterne des Peupliers.
