About this work
This etching, dated 1867 and attributed to Alfred Delauney, shows a construction site in front of the church of Saint-Médard with a spire and clock tower rising behind rooftops. Large cut stone blocks lie in the foreground beside a loaded cart, and workers move among them under tall timber supports. Ruined walls and the crumbling masonry of neighboring buildings frame the scene.
