About this work

This brown-toned watercolor drawing shows a view of the Seine with moored barges in the foreground, a multi-arched bridge, and the twin towers of Notre-Dame rising above the city roofline. A second smaller sketch below depicts the arches of a bridge over the river with small figures and riverside buildings. The work is attributed to Auguste-Sébastien Bénard and dated 1829.
