About this work
An etched street view of a narrow medieval-style lane flanked by tall, leaning old houses with projecting upper storeys and wooden structures. A woman in dark clothing walks along the cobbled passage, with a figure visible in the distance beyond an arched opening, and a wooden cart stands at the left. The handwritten inscription below describes the scene's historical association with the Impasse Barbette and the 1407 assassination of the Duke of Orléans. The print is dated 1906 and is attributed to Georges-Henri Manesse.
