About this work
An etched street view shows a narrow medieval alley lined with steep-roofed houses, a tall stone tower, and shuttered windows, with a seated figure and a standing man near a dark passage. The print is titled Passage des patriarches, is attributed to Georges-Henri Manesse, and is dated 1906. Handwritten French inscription beneath the image identifies the site as the remains of a fourteenth-century hôtel.
