About this work
This etching shows a timber-framed hangar with steeply pitched roof trusses set in a sunlit courtyard, flanked by stone and half-timbered buildings with shuttered windows. Small figures move across the pale ground beneath the structure. The work is by Georges-Henri Manesse and dated 1906, and its handwritten inscription identifies the street as Rue Montorgueil and the site as the Hôtel du Compas d'Or.
