About this work
This etching shows the interior of a chapel with rows of wooden pews facing a richly decorated altar beneath a large arch and domed apse. A nun in a white headdress stands at the side among the pews, and a hanging lamp descends from the coffered ceiling. The work is dated 1906 and is attributed to Georges-Henri Manesse, with a handwritten inscription naming the Rue de Sèvres chapel of the Hospitalières de St-Thomas de Villeneuve.
