About this work
A dense crowd fills a broad city square in soft, loose brushwork, with many figures and tricolour flags raised above their heads. The grand classical facade of the Opera at left and a long balustraded building with bunting at right frame the scene under a pale cloudy sky. The work is titled L'Opéra le 11 novembre 1918 and was made in 1918 by Gilbert Bellan.
