About this work

A hand-colored caricature print titled Recréations shows four vignettes of early nineteenth-century figures in fashionable dress, including a couple seated on a green sofa, a young woman with a red sash beside a violin-carrying gentleman, two men dining at a table, and a bust-length figure in a yellow waistcoat. The captions are in French, and the lithograph is credited to Henry Monnier with the printing line Litho de C. Motte and an imprint for London publication by Giraldon Bowyer.
