About this work
A watercolor study on tan paper shows an old rusted pulley with a circular wheel and a vertical support, rendered in brown and orange tones with blue wash shadows. The handwritten French inscription identifies it as a 16th-century pulley from the mitoyen well of the Force prison, held at the Musée Carnavalet.
