About this work
A watercolor and pencil drawing shows an old well set into a stone facade, with an arched niche, a rounded iron pulley and wheel, and a red-brown wooden shutter at left. The annotation records that the well was discovered in the facade wall of number 111, rue Vieille du Temple, during the renovation of a shopfront. The work is attributed to Georges-Henri Manesse.
