A pale sandy beach stretches toward a turquoise sea under heavy blue-grey clouds, with breaking white surf along the shoreline. Two weathered, broken wooden boat hulls lie stranded on the sand, one in the foreground and one at the right edge. This oil study, titled The beach at Højen, is by P.S. Krøyer and dated 1882.
