About this work

This painting, titled Hinter den Kulissen by Leo Putz, shows women in a backstage dressing room, with a seated performer in pink tights playing a guitar beside a companion in a feathered hat. A nude figure stands at the right among heaped white and striped costume skirts, while another dancer raises her arms near a bright doorway at the left. The loose, broad brushwork and warm light emphasize the informal atmosphere of the theatre setting.
