About this work
An oil-style genre scene shows an elderly toy seller in a blue coat and tricorn hat offering a small toy to a young girl in a red dress beside a covered wagon. Half-timbered buildings, a stone archway, hanging laundry, and geese in the foreground set a village street scene.
