A steep, sloping street descends through a cluster of tall, weathered buildings with shuttered windows, toward a distant view of rooftops. Bare winter trees frame the scene on both sides, and a pale stone wall runs along the right edge. The painting is signed and dated 13 December 1944 in the lower right corner.
