About this work
This 1516 bookplate shows a bearded man in a dark feathered hat and cloak, seen in profile above a shield bearing three scallop shells on a diagonal band. Ornamental scrollwork surrounds the shield, and a Latin motto appears in a banner across the top, with the inscription naming Chuonradus Peutinger as a doctor of law from Augsburg. The work is catalogued as a print by Hans Burgkmair.
