About this work

A pen and brown ink drawing with wash shows two riders in tall hats and cloaks on horseback at the front of a procession, followed by horses and a crowd of attendants in ruffled costumes, some on foot and some holding sprigs. The inscribed names along the lower edge identify the figures. This is François Chauveau's 1660 record of the Chancellor Séguier's entry into Paris for the 26 August 1660 ceremony of Louis XVI and the Infanta Maria Theresa.
