About this work

This painting shows a velodrome crowded with spectators in the stands, while in the foreground well-dressed women in long dresses and men in top hats gather near empty wooden chairs. A waiter carrying a tray of glasses stands at the right edge, and a cyclist leans into the banked curve of the track.
