About this work

A lithograph-style view shows a multi-arched masonry railway viaduct crossing a turbulent river between steep rocky slopes. A steam locomotive pulls a line of passenger carriages across the top of the bridge, trailing smoke under a cloudy sky, while small figures stand on the riverbank and rocks below. This 1853 print by Carlo Bossoli is part of his series of views of the Torino-Genova railway.
