About this work

This design sheet shows a decorative painted scheme of diamond lattice bands framing rows of winged angels, circular medallions and pink floral rosettes, executed in gouache or watercolour with gilded accents. The sheet is signed Józef Mehoffer and dated 1901 in red script along the lower edge. It is a study for the painted decoration of the vault of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Płock.
