About this work

This painting, catalogued as Oscar Mulley Erker c1928 by Oskar Mulley, shows a cluster of whitewashed and weathered wooden houses built on a rocky hillside. Laundry hangs from a balcony above, and a window on the white wall holds a bouquet of red flowers, while jagged mountain peaks rise in the background. The loose, thick brushwork and dark outlines give the scene a textured, expressive surface.
