About this work
A charcoal or graphite sketch shows a helmeted soldier leaning on a rifle, seen in profile against a dark, heavily shaded sky and a flat horizon. The lower ground is rendered with loose, hatched strokes, and handwritten German inscriptions with the initials AK appear at the lower right.
