About this work

A small oil study shows a still pond bordered by reeds and grass, with a dense band of deciduous trees behind it under a pale, hazy sky. The foreground meadow is rendered in loose, warm yellow-green strokes, and the water reflects the dark tree line. This study by P.C. Skovgaard is dated 1872.
