About this work
This engraved print titled Hagar in the Desert shows a winged angel descending on a cloud above a seated woman who gazes upward beside a water vessel. A rocky cliff, tall trees and a stream fill the wooded landscape, with a reclining figure resting at right. The print is attributed to Joseph Vernet as painter, with the engraving credited to J. B. Tillard and a dedication to Monsieur de Mongeroux, Trésorier Général de la Maison du Roy.
