About this work
This black and white engraving depicts a Mediterranean harbor scene with fishermen on rocky outcrops, rowboats and sailing vessels on calm water, and a fortified town with towers rising on the hillside at right. The title cartouche is inscribed with a dedication to the Abbé de Grimaldi, and the print is credited to Joseph Vernet as the painter, with the engraving by Jas Alamet.
